CERCO UV Lenses – Large Aperture, Large Image Size Lens Designed For UV Imaging

The UV lenses from CERCO have been designed for use with ultraviolet scientific cameras or cameras equipped with image intensifiers working with ultraviolet light. The CERCO lens has been optimized for imaging in the ultraviolet range, although it is usable from the ultraviolet to near infrared wavelengths requiring minimal focus shift. Axiom Optics offers three versions of the high-quality CERCO UV lens: 28mm, 45mm, and 100 mm focal length.

The CERCO UV lenses have an unrivaled performance in UV applications, which makes it a must have in combustion research and other high-speed imaging applications such as Molecular Tagging Velocimetry (MTV). Imaging in combustion and MTV applications involves capturing UV emission from chemical species such as NO, OH*, and CH* radicals. The use of short gates and optical filters to only capture the desired emission spectrum and block strong emission at other wavelengths can result in the reduction of signal, making a high-quality lens a mandatory component in an imaging setup. The CERCO lens offers the widest aperture among other commercial UV lenses.

Features of the CERCO UV Lenses:

UV Sensitivity: Up to 90% transmission in the 250 nm – 410 nm wavelength range.

Wide Aperture: The widest aperture among other commercial UV lenses:

28 mm lens: F3.5 to F/16

45 mm lens: F/1.8 to F/16

100 mm lens: F/2.8 to F/8

Minimal Chromatic Aberrations: Although designed for the ultraviolet range, CERCO lenses are well corrected for optical aberrations from the ultraviolet to the near infrared, requiring negligible refocus.

High Resolution: Matching or exceeding the resolution of the most common scientific cameras and image intensifiers.

Wide Range of Applications: Combustion processes (automotive, aerospace, power generation), plasma research, Laser Induced Fluorescence, Molecular Tagging Velocimetry, and other fluorescence or bioluminescence processes.
