IndiGo VIS Applications:

  • Chemical Analysis Involving Absorption, Fluorescence, and Reflection
  • Education and Research
  • Gemology and Jewelry
  • Lighting and Filters Characterization and Identification
  • Traceability and Authentication
  • And many more…

Concentration Measurements Using the Beer-Lambert Law

Serial dilutions of blue food colorant
Using the chemical analysis module, the IndiGo handheld spectrometer can be used to perform spectrophotometric analysis via light absorption to determine the concentration of chemical species in solutions.

Characterization of Optical Filters

FB500-40 Bandpass Filter
The IndiGo spectrometer is the ideal tool for the detailed characterization of the transmission properties of spectral filters, or for the identification of mislabeled or misplaced optical elements in a laboratory. In this case, the detailed transmittance properties of a bandpass filter with central wavelength of 500 nm were obtained using the IndiGo spectrometer. The experimental setup for such measurements is quite simple, requiring only the IndiGo spectrometer and a broadband light source.

Field Optical Measurements

IndiGo Spectrometer field measurements
Being a highly portable instrument, the IndiGo handheld spectrometer is the ideal tool for field measurements involving in-situ characterization of absorption, emission, or laser induced fluorescence of samples such as food products. In this example, the fluorescence measurement of tonic water is obtained using the laser module attached to the IndiGo spectrometer without removing the sample from its original container.
