TRICATT Lens Coupled Image Intensifier, a turn-key solution

The TRiCATT is a versatile and compact lens-coupled image intensifier designed for scientific and industrial applications requiring:

  • Low-Light Level Imaging
  • Ultra-Short Exposures via Fast Gating
  • Frequency-Domain Imaging Using Lock-In Detection

The TRiCATT features an 18 or 25 mm image intensifier with a highly efficient relay lens, compatible with any CCD or CMOS camera. This flexibility allows for easy integration into existing imaging systems. The TRiCATT (Time Resolved Intensified Camera Attachment) is ideal for ultra-fast imaging in both time and frequency domains.

With a wide selection of Gen II and Gen III image intensifiers, the TRiCATT provides high sensitivity down to the single photon level and optimal spectral bandwidth for various applications. Different models are available, covering a range of spectral sensitivities, phosphor types, spatial resolutions, gains, linearities, minimum gate widths, and gating frequencies, ensuring a tailored solution for your imaging needs.

For time-domain imaging, the TRiCATT is equipped with a fast gate unit (TRiCATT G40n/G2n) that enables the image intensifier to function as an electro-optical shutter. This gate unit supports repetition rates of up to 2.5 MHz in burst. Additionally, a variety of image intensifier control units offer functionalities ranging from analog gain control to full digital control, including an internal trigger generator and programmable gate trains. For frequency-domain imaging, the TRiCATT M supports gain modulation of 120 MHz (standard) and higher (external signal generator), utilizing a single-chip digital synthesizer to ensure extremely low phase noise. Any camera with a C-mount and a 1/2″, 2/3″, or 1″ image sensor is compatible with the TRiCATT, and you can easily determine the right TRiCATT model for your camera using this interactive calculator.

TRiCATT Options

  • Optional: Signal Generator
Instead of using an external modulation signal generator, we offer a built-in modulation signal generator as part of the control unit/power supply for frequencies up to 120 MHz.
  •  TRiCAM: As an alternative to the lens-coupled ICCD camera (TRiCATT + CCD), we offer an ICCD camera in which the image intensifier is fiber-optically coupled to the sensor. This is the TRiCAM. This modulated intensified CCD camera is very compact and has a significantly higher gain than the lens-coupled combination as a result of the more efficient and compact fiber coupling.
