Wavefront Metrology & Adaptive Optics

Axiom Optics is pleased to offer the entire line of industry-leading optical metrology and adaptive optics solutions from Imagine Optic SA.

These optical metrology solutions allow full measurement and control of the optical wavefront to an unmatched level of accuracy, resolution and dynamic range in the X-ray, VIS , NIR and SWIR spectral bands. We offer the following:

Applications for Optical Metrology & Adaptive Optics

Our systems are used by many engineers for the following applications:

Laser beam characterization & M Squared measurement

High-performance lasers require rigorous optical metrology to ensure beam quality. Our HASO wavefront sensors provide real-time diagnostics, measuring phase and intensity simultaneously to calculate $M^2$, divergence, and pointing stability across UV, VIS, and SWIR spectral bands.

Laser spot optimization (Strehl ratio increase)

Achieving a diffraction-limited spot is essential for material processing and laser acceleration. By integrating optical metrology equipment with deformable mirrors, we create active feedback loops that identify and compensate for system aberrations, effectively maximizing the Strehl ratio. Learn more about the Strehl Ratio in this blog.

Optical component and systems characterization and alignment

The manufacturing of high-end optics demands non-contact optical metrology to verify surface quality. Our tools allow for rapid alignment of complex systems (like Off-Axis Parabolas) and comprehensive testing of Transmitted Wavefront Error (TWE) in lenses, mirrors, and plane-parallel wafers.

Atmospheric correction in free space telecommunications and astronomy

Atmospheric turbulence can degrade signals in Free Space Optics (FSO) and image resolution in astronomy. Our optical metrology and adaptive optics solutions sense wavefront distortions in real-time, allowing for high-frequency correction and restored signal integrity for ground-to-space communications.
